Nintendo must be in a Pebble Beach state of mind—the high-dollar, suede-underpants concours is just over a week away—or its product-placement deal with Mercedes-Benz for the Mario Kart franchise is simply really, really well-timed. That's because in Mario Kart 8, players will have the option to download two additional Mercedes-Benzes to drive, and let's just say the two historic rides bring a heavy dose of class to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Nintendo's mashup with Mercedes initially brought forth a downloadable GLA-class crossover that players could race in MK8. While that product drop came off as forced—and, in Japan, resulted in an unsettling commercial—the addition of the classic 1934 W25 Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow race car and the timeless 1957 300SL roadster is just plain awesome.

Indeed, were we trying to save the princess, we'd skip the goofy go-kart options and jump right into our multimillion-dollar German machine to save the day in style. Or shoot spiny shells at our buddies. Either way, they're money. Catch the cars in action in the video released by Nintendo below:
