Recall Alert: 2014 Aston Martin DB9, Rapide S

2014AstonMartinDB9Recall

Vehicles Affected: Nearly 450 model-year 2014 Aston Martin DB9 and Rapide S high-performance luxury sports cars manufactured between June 2013 and July 2014

The Problem: Due to a faulty circuit board, the transmissions in the affected vehicles may inadvertently shift to neutral without input from the driver. If this happens, the driver will not be able to maintain speed or move the vehicle out of traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Aston Martin began notifying owners earlier this month, and dealers will replace the affected circuit boards for free.

What Owners Should Do: Owners can call Aston Martin at 888-923-9988, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more info. The automaker noted that if the vehicle exhibits the problem, owners should turn off the ignition then restart it, which may allow the car to be driven to safety.
