Goth-Smacked! Nissan Vision Gran Turismo Teased, Could Appear at Goodwood Festival

Nissan Vision Gran Turismo

Nissan is joining the flurry of manufacturers designing extreme, bespoke Vision Gran Turismo fantasy vehicles for the eponymous Sony video game title's loyal following, and its entrant is quite the creation. Like the Vision Gran Turismo cars dreamt up by Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, BMW, and of course, Mercedes-Benz/AMG, the Nissan effort looks brutally awesome. That the car is clearly inspired by the wicked real-life GT-R supercar only amplifies its cool factor—and thickens the plot.

With is vertical headlamps, square fenders, and wide side sills, the concept's Gotham-prowling, stealth-bomber-chic design makes the roadgoing GT-R look like as bland as a Fiat 500 by comparison. Is it aerodynamic? Can you see out of it? Who cares? It's a virtual car, so anything is possible, but we sure wouldn't mind if the next-generation GT-R actually looked something like this. Well, so long as it has some outward visibility. With the way the next GT-R's powertrain is shaping up, being able to see the road might be important.

It's worth noting that the image was released with the following, one-sentence statement: "On Monday, June 16, Nissan will reveal the next chapter in its story to an audience that has always shared a passion for performance." It also follows a tweet sent out on June 6 by Nissan Vice President Andy Palmer, which had a shrouded image of this car and the question, "think it's worth coming to Goodwood????" We assume he's referring to England's famous Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place on June 26–29. Goodwood is an event that's always worth going to, but it looks like Nissan is about to make it even more worthwhile. See you there, Andy. We'll bring our Batman costumes and a bevy of next-gen GT-R questions.
