It's a little jarring to realize that the most recent Max Rockatansky film was released 29 years ago. In that time, director George Miller has tried numerous times to get a fourth installment off the ground. Well, it's almost here, and from what we've seen in these images from Entertainment Weekly, the automobiles look preposterously, apocalyptically great.
The movie is apparently one gigantic car chase, which is fine with us after all that character development in Bartertown. With Mel Gibson out—and frankly rather aged at this point—Tom Hardy dons the leather pants, Charlize Theron straps on a crazy robot arm, and they get into hijinks involving a bonkers-nutzoid semi with a Benz on top. Which is a bit more terrifying than a surrey with the fringe on top.
And heaven knows, surrounded by things like a Deuce with bosozoku-inspired zoomies and what looks to be a hi-boy Hummer, the gang isn't headed to the box social to meet up with Curly and Ado Annie.

Whatever winds up happening in the film or to our long-suffering hero, Fury Road looks neat, explodey, and (hopefully) great fun. Plus, there's a character named "The Dag." The Dag, yo! The Dag!
