The discontinuation of the good ol' Ford Crown Victoria left a bit of a vacuum in the police-car segment, and Lamborghini is stepping in to fill the void. Just kidding. (That falls mostly to the Dodge Charger, Chevy's Caprice, and the Ford Taurus, of course.) But with Lamborghini cop cars popping up in Dubai, London, and the raging bull's home country of Italy, there does seem to be a disproportionate number of Lambos in "polizia" regalia.
The latest Lambo to appear in PD livery has appeared in Los Angeles, California—coincidentally one of Lamborghini's largest markets. It's an early model Gallardo that, according to the car's Twitter and Facebook pages (yes, it has them), is on loan from local couple Nathalie and Travis Marg of L.A.-based Light Source 1, Inc., a telecommunications contractor. Ostensibly because it's a loaner, the black-and-white-wrapped Gallardo won't actually be used for patrols or high-speed chases but rather to draw attention to charitable events conducted by the LAPD air-support team.

This news comes as some relief to this particular Los Angeles–based writer. However, in all actuality—or "realness," as we say out here—the Gallardo's 190-plus-mph top speed is utterly pointless here, since our horrendous traffic makes it just as easy to get pulled over by a bicycle officer or a Hot Cop as a Lamborghini. Although sitting on the side of the road with a Lambo parked behind, lights blazing, would make an offending driver seem like a little more of a bad-ass, no?
