Kia Sorento Prices Increase $1,000 for 2014

When the redesigned Kia Sorento goes on sale later this winter, it'll start at $24,950, including an $850 destination charge. That's $1,000 more than the outgoing model, but a new engine and more optional comfort and convenience features should remove some of the sting. According to Kia, more than 80% of its midsize crossover is new or significantly redesigned for 2014. On the outside that means a light front-end refresh with an updated grille and LED-accented headlights. Inside, changes include a new powertrain, revised center stack layout and updated multimedia system. The crossover still has standard seating for five passengers and a third-row option for seven-passenger capacity. Trim levels carry over for 2014 and include LX, EX, LX V6, EX V6 and SX; a top-of-the-line Limited model is new this year. All are available with front- or all-wheel drive. LX and EX models use a version of last year's 191-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder. Optional on those versions and standard on all others is a new 290-hp, 3.3-liter V-6 with direct injection. It replaces a 276-hp, 3.5- liter V-6. A six-speed automatic transmission is again standard. Base two-wheel-drive LX models start at $24,950, exactly $1,000 more than 2013 LX models. Top-line Limited all-wheel-drive versions of the 2014 Sorento start at $40,550 and are equipped with extras like high-intensity-discharge headlights, 19-inch chrome wheels, Nappa leather-trimmed seats, a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. New-for-2014 equipment on various models includes a programmable power liftgate, an 8-inch touch-screen multimedia system, a blind spot warning system, a panoramic sunroof, second-row sunshades, a hill start assist and cooled front seats.
