BMW adds shifts at S.C. plant

German automaker BMW is adding two production shifts at its assembly plant in Spartanburg, S.C., where the X5 luxury SUV and X6 sporty
The automaker’s U.S. sales were up 3.6% in September, far outpacing the industry’s decline of 23%.“The additional shifts and temporary workers have been added as a direct result of an increase in year-end market demand for our products,” according to Bobby Hitt, Department Manager for Public Affairs at BMW Manufacturing.
The new hires will be made through BMW’s contract agencies, MAU Inc. and Tier One Solutions. BMW will add one additional shift immediately and another is scheduled for early November.
