The Tourer Legacy comes in greater dimensions than the sedan version, it is wider (by 50mm), taller (by 65mm) and longer (by 55mm). As for the cargo space which is the most important factor in any estate vehicle, Subaru actually does pretty good with 526 liters expandable to 1,677-liter storage through 60/40 split rear seats.
As always Subaru offers the car with the Symmetrical AWD system and a pair of Boxer (horizontally-opposed) engines for the car, an economy-minded 2.0 liter Diesel which comes standard with a six-speed manual gearbox and averages 46.3mpg, but only has a top speed of 120 mph.
The other engine is not much different! a 2.5-liter petrol engine with output of 167 hp and torque of 229Nm coupled with a newly-developed Lineartronic automatic transmission and with a top speed of 120 mph!
Subaru has adopted a revised MacPherson strut front suspension design, with the lower arm mounted on the sub-frame for greater stability and refinement. The thickness of the stabiliser (anti-roll) bar has also been increased, improving roll resistance and offering even greater agility.
Subaru Legacy's new looks is also engineered very well as the car was recently awarded a 5-Star Euro NCAP crash safety rating. Pricing for the 2010 Legacy Estate starts at £23,295 for the 2.0D S and goes up to £27,295 for the 2.5i SE NavPlus Lineartronic in the British market.
