1974 Beetle gets biodiesel-electric hybrid drivetrain, 500mpg goal

It’s good to be ambitious, and students from the University of Kansas have set some real ambitious goals for themselves. The student group “EcoHawk” uses 1/8 scale ecocars for their research into cleaner vehicles, which seems like an economical.

It’s good to be ambitious, and students from the University of Kansas have set some real ambitious goals for themselves. The student group “EcoHawk” uses 1/8 scale ecocars for their research into cleaner vehicles, which seems like an economical thing to do, while at the same time working with diverse systems. The group has converted a 1974 Beetle into a biodiesel-electric hybrid, and though it isn’t all that fuel hungry, their eventual goal is to take the car’s fuel efficiency to 500 mpg.
