Car designers Andy Shaw and Robert Silkstone have developed a luxury watch brand Industrial North Design, which is now ready to launch two of its first models. The design of the Britannic and Vanguard-Precision watches has been inspired by the automotive background of both designers, and also incorporates influences from the Fibonacci sequence, Geodesic domes, construction of the beehive and the designers’ love for the industrial heritage of northern England.

The watches have been nearly two years in development, and are created using intensive production methods that require immense attention to detail. The Britannic model is made from spark eroded and wire-EDM machined 316L stainless steel. Inner case of the watch is CNC machined and held by six rare 10 BA screws that were used back in the days of the British Empire. The laser cut face of the watch is engraved from sterling silver and has a pattern influenced by the Fibonacci sequence. Each custom made-to-measure 26mm wide watch with black leather strap carries the British Ministry of Information slogan “Keep Calm and Carry On.”

The Vanguard-Precision also follows the same manufacturing process, but has a brown leather calfskin strap with natural colored stitching. Graphic on the face of the watch is inspired by the flow of cotton through the cloth mills of northern England. The back plate here carries the slogan “Come Into The Factories.”

Both watches will be limited edition models, with production limited to just 15 units for each model. Each watch will carry a price tag of £5000 ($8280); the company is currently accepting reservations and pre-orders. Production of the watches is nearly complete, and Industrial North Design hopes to ship the finished product in eight weeks.
