Update: You can sleep in peace tonight. Pelicared (check out his comment below) has enlightened us that the car you see here is indeed the Ssangyong Actyon from South Korea. This makes us wonder what Ssangyong is doing on U.S. soil?

This past weekend, the folks at Inside Line spotted a very weird looking crossover prototype parked on a residential street in Santa Monica that could give you nightmares.

Those nightmares may be the same ones you had back in 2001 when General Motors unveiled its first “crossover” SUV - the Pontiac Aztek. The model was discontinued in 2005 for obvious reasons. It was voted the ugliest vehicle in the world by the British Telegraph newspaper.

If GM decides to do the Aztek once again, we’ll have to name it the ugliest vehicle in the world and may even support those auto task force advisors looking for $40 billion in bankruptcy funding.

Head over to Inside Line to see the back of this… whatever you want to call it.
