In the past, Toyota attached the Verso badge at the end of Corolla and Yaris models. The Toyota Corolla Verso first made its debut in 1997 as a two-box minivan. Later in 2000, Toyota used the Verso badge on a mini MPV based on the Yaris minicar.

Toyota will now bring the Verso name back at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show for a brand new MPV that has seating for seven passengers and three rows. The new 2009 Toyota Verso picks up where the 2004 Toyota Corolla Verso left-off. However, with some Toyota iQ inspired engineering and style touches, the 2009 Verso gets a boost in interior space along with a sleek new look.

The new 2009 Toyota Verso will go on sale in April with a choice of two gasoline and two diesel engines. The gasoline engine choices will include a new 1.6 and 1.8 Valvematic mated to a 6-speed manual or Toyota’s Multidrive S CVT. Treehuggers can pick up the 2.0 or 2.2 D-4D engines.
