Warburton said that the move would help Daimler gain expertise in the compact and subcompact market where its A-Class and Smart ForTwo cost the Daimler AG group a combined $8.97 billion in losses.
Not too long after that, Daimler AG board member Thomas Weber told Reuters that the company has no interest in buying any brands from GM.
“A takeover of Opel is not on the agenda. That also goes for Volvo or Saab,” Weber told Reuters.
