“Everything is being done to reduce costs and make yourself as competitive as you can,” Barnes told Automotive News.
Barnes said that the layoffs covered the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. He didn’t not specify the number of employees laid off in each region.
Mazda sales drop 10.7 percent in 2008 to 263,949 units. January 2008 sales were down 27.3 percent.
