Red Bull's 2015 campaign to unseat Lewis Hamilton is off to a fun start, even if Daniel Ricciardo's first win doesn't count in the official standings.
On Top Gear last night, the 25-year-old Aussie buckled into the show's Suzuki Liana to take a run at Hamilton's record 1:42.9 "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" run.

When he crossed the finish line, it was his name being elevated to the top of the leaderboard. Ricciardo ripped through the course in 1:42.2, beating Lewis by a solid seven tenths of a second. What's more, Ricciardo's time spanked ex-teammate Sebastian Vettel's by nearly two seconds, and was a second faster than Mark Webber, the man he replaced at Red Bull last year. It looked like he had a blast:

Of course, the real competition kicks off on March 15th on Ricciardo's home turf at the Australian Grand Prix.

There, he'll have a fresh chance to answer the Top Gear audience heckler who yelled, "What does the back of Lewis' car look like?"
Ideally, it'd be a smiling, "I wouldn't know" from the top podium step.
