Vehicles Affected: More than 200 model-year 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander crossovers equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, and model-year 2007-12 Outlanders that received replacement six-speed automatic transmissions during servicing
The Problem: The transmissions in the affected vehicles have insufficient clearance between the power steering pressure tube and the converter housing of the automatic transmission. As a result of contact, the power steering pressure tube may develop a hole and leak power steering fluid; this could cause a loss of steering assistance, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Mitsubishi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power steering pressure tube and return tube for free. The automaker has not yet announced a notification schedule.
