2014 Woodward Dream Cruise: The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance’s All-American Foil [w/ Mega Gallery!]

2014 Woodward Dream Cruise

While the automotive elite were gathered on California's Monterrey Peninsula week of festivities collectively referred to as Pebble Beach, the hoi polloi of the car world converged on Detroit for the 20th annual Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise.

Four lanes wide and with turnarounds strategically placed at quarter-mile mile intervals, there is arguably no better cruising thoroughfare in the western hemisphere than Detroit's Woodward Avenue. Starting just one block east of General Motors' Renaissance Center headquarters on the Detroit River and cutting a long path north, Woodward is steeped in automotive history and serves as the de-facto asphalt timeline of Detroit. There's no shortage of Motor City folklore detailing drag races and engineers from the big three using Woodward as a real-world proving grounds during the muscle car-era, prowling the pavement with the latest experimental technology developed behind corporate walls.

Held on the third Saturday of August every year, Woodward is an everyman's automotive nirvana, an entrance fee–free rolling car show open to any and all marques. Everything from hardly tractable street machines to pedigreed pre-war classics—and everything in-between—can be found burbling down Woodward in the summer heat. Check out a few of our favorites here, and be sure to check out our giant photo gallery from this year's event below.
