Recall Alert: 2010-12 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon

GM is recalling 118,800 model-year 2010-12 versions of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to problems with the trucks' hood latch system, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The affected vehicles were manufactured from Nov. 9, 2009, through Aug. 28, 2012 (check your vehicle's build date on a sticker on the driver-side doorjamb) and could be missing a secondary hood latch. If the main hood latch is not engaged, the hood could open unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash. GM will notify owners starting Jan. 17, 2013, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace any affected hoods for free.
