Just Kidding! – Nissan To Price The Nissan Versa At … Somewhere Beyond $14k Out The Door.

Nissan will officially desingate a solid .18% of their Versa inventory as certified base models.

"We want to give Americans the opportunity to enjoy an outstanding vehicle at an affordable price." said Nissan PR Vice-President Michio Kushi. "That is why we're going to build 34 base Nissan Versas for the 2013 model year. Twice the number than the year before! These vehicles will all serve as space fillers at the back of our largest Nissan dealerships with prominent 'Vehicle Not For Sale – Don't Even Ask!' stickers on their windshields."

The base Nissan Versa will have an MSRP of $11,990. A mild 10% bump from 2012. Features will include a $770 destination charge along with other optional mid-three figure fees at the dealerships, such as 'doc fees' and 'market price adjustment fees'. Along with an endless array of middling to low content packages that will easily push the out the door price for the Versa closer to $18k.

"We believe that the Versa will continue to lead the entry level segment when it comes to value, space, and… uhhh…  give me a moment here. What's the third? Oh! Utility!" explained Mr. Kushi. "And personality! Boy this car has personality!"

"No wait. The third is fuel economy. Or is it comfort? Oh well, screw it then. It's a really cheap car before you start adding features. Even after that it's kinda OK for the price if you're looking for A to B. Plus you can easily customize most of the body panels by giving them a firm rump bump."

We at TTAC believe the Nissan Versa will remain a strong contender for those who want a new economical four door car, but consider the Toyota Corolla to be too flashy and expensive.
