To Prep for Upcoming F-type Roadster, Jaguar Shows Off Classic C-, D-, and E-Types in New York [Photo Gallery]

Jaguar's New York auto show activities most notably included the announcement of the new F-type roadster, after which three F-type predecessors gleamed in front of a swank SoHo restaurant. We were there, too, but found it hard to go inside with the beauties parked outside.

On display were a 1952 Jaguar C-type, the tenth example built, and a 1956 D-type, the 44th built of that stunning automobile. Estimated worth: $2.5 million for the C-type and $4 million for the D-type.

Both currently reside in the collection of the 65-car Simeone Automotive Museum in Philadelphia, and both competed at the 12 Hours of Sebring back in the day. The C-type ran in 1953 with Sherwood Johnston and Bob Wilder at the wheel; the D-type raced in 1956, driven by Bob Sweikert and Jack Ensley. Both cars placed third in their respective races.

In addition to the static C- and D-types, Jaguar gave attendees a quick jaunt around the cobblestone-paved block in a privately owned 1967 E-type. At an estimated $100K, the E is not nearly as valuable as the C and D, but it is certainly no less beautiful. Check out all three in the gallery below.
