The Capstone CMT-380 debuted at the LA Auto Show and it has an interesting microturbine- lithium-ion hybrid powertrain. It may still be in the test phase, but Capstone claims that the car can reach a top speed of 150mph, and is able to sprint from zero to 60mph in just 3.9 seconds.

The batteries give the car a 100 mile range, and that’s when the range extender 30kW microturbines step in, and promise a 500 miles range for the car. Powered by either diesel or biodiesel, the microturbines have very low emissions, but they do have a loud 87dB noise. The car is still far from production, in its present form, the costs may be prohibitively high, but the future may possibly bring something bright for the concept.
