Most of the omnidirectional wheels we have seen have been on concepts, but the Airtrax wheels are probably the first real world application. The wheels allow the vehicles to move not just forward backward, but also to move sideways and rotate within their own length. Airtrax has put the wheels on forklifts and scissorlifts, and though they work well, it is not exactly clear how the wheels would fare on a conventional car on the road. Video after the jump.
