2016 Mitsubishi Lancer: Improved, However Subtly

2016-Mitsubishi-Lancer-GT-PLACEMENT

The trouble with that old trope about "breaking through the noise" is that it rarely acknowledges context. For example, it's at least possible to raise your voice loud enough to drown out others—if you're in the same room. Mitsubishi is trying to do just that in the compact-car segment with some updates for its Lancer sedan, but in spite of a rather reasoned argument built on generous standard features and affordable pricing, will it be heard? After all, having sold just 16,495 Lancers last year—compared to 325,981 Honda Civics moved during the same period—is Mitsubishi even in the same room as its myriad compact-sedan competitors? Just When You Think McLaren’s F1 Season Couldn’t Possibly Be Any Dumber (Video)

They go and make a video like this and totally redeem themselves! (Not really.)

But the video above sure is entertaining. After rumors that Jenson Button would leave the team this year, the less-than dynamic duo of Button and Fernando Alonso appears to be back in 2016 to compete in GP2 Formula 1. The video has a story, apparently:

Join the mighty Turbo Heroes, McLaren-Honda's Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, as they battle the evil racer Exhaustus in a thrilling journey across the globe in a tense battle to return mythical artefact the Jade Dragon of Suzuka to its spiritual home in Japan.

At least the company has some sense of humor about its terrible season. The 8-bit throwup seems fitting: The Honda powerplant has consistently kept the cars 30 years behind the current generation all season.
