We don't do motorbikes very often, but we've got a good reason to do so here. The new Ariel Ace is, as its name suggests, made by the same British company that produces the ultra-lightweight Atom, with the new bike sharing much of its four-wheel sibling's aesthetic. It's another of the unveilings at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.
Long before its modern-era re-launch, Ariel started out as a motorbike manufacturer and boss Simon Saunders says the main motivation to produce a modern version came from the fact so many of the company's employees are bikers. It's the first motorbike to wear an Ariel badge in more than 50 years.
Power will come from a 173-hp 1237-cc Honda V-4, and each Ace will be made to order with pretty much every detail being customizable, including a choice of suspension links to give different riding characteristics. Owners will be able to specify their own bodywork, suspension systems, and even details such as the size of the fuel tank. As with the Atom, the bike is also designed to be upgradeable over time. It looks absolutely amazing, so much so we're sure its appearance in a major movie is only a question of time. We've only got British prices at the moment—we're told it will start at £16,500 in the UK (so just over $28,000 U.S. across the Pond). Even if you don't ride a bike, it's still tempting though, isn't it?
