Vehicles Affected: Nearly 5,700 model-year 2015 Hyundai Sonata sedans manufactured between April 25, 2014, and June 16, 2014
The Problem: Due to a manufacturing error, one or both of the front brake calipers may fracture, reducing brake effectiveness and lengthening the distance required to stop the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Hyundai notified owners on June 19 and instructed them not to drive their vehicles; the automaker will replace the affected brake calipers for free.
What Owners Should Do: Owners can call Hyundai at 800-633-5151, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more info.
