A manufacturer can't expect to be taken seriously as a supercar builder unless a few of its exotics catch on fire every once in a while—take Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche, for example. It appears Acura's $100,000-plus NSX sports car badly wanted into the gang: One of the prototypes just fried itself during a testing session at the Nürburgring. You can now consider the car made.
Both occupants reportedly escaped the NSX unscathed, and in a somewhat amusing turn of fate, the crispy remains appear to be those of the same exact prototype our spy photographer captured yesterday. (For what we gleaned from the undamaged NSX tester, and to see it pre-burning, head over to our full spy photos story.) We should point out that the NSX is still under development, and sometimes things go wrong during this phase. That's supposed to happen, really; automakers strive to push new models to their breaking points before customers get them. Acura simply had the misfortune to discover an issue with the NSX rather publicly, and in full view of our photographer.
