Which Cars Have Heated Seats with Separate Back and Bottom Heaters?

In the new Chevrolet Impala, I noticed the heated seats are two-stages like GM vehicles used to have. But many GMs I've been in recently have just the one setting for bottom and back combined. Is this GM-wide? Which vehicles have the two-setting heaters?

Hard to slip anything past you, isn't it?

Indeed, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala that's equipped with heated front seats offers the option of heating just the backrest or the bottom cushion and backrest together. This was not the case with the previous-generation Impala, which allowed choosing high or low heat settings, but both settings included the backrest and cushion. We looked around at other GM vehicles, and we couldn't determine if there is rhyme or reason to which ones allow independent heating of the backrest.

We don't have a complete list, but we can say that the large, truck-based SUVs and pickup trucks such as the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Yukon/Yukon XL allow heating the backrest only as well as the backrest and cushion together. So do the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia SUVs.

However, the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain SUVs don't, and neither do the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS or Chevrolet Cruze, Corvette or Volt. If you need to know which vehicles do and which ones don't, the best advice we can give is to check specific models at dealerships.
