Vehicles Affected: Approximately 98,300 model-year 2006-10 Infiniti M sedans.
The Problem: Infiniti is voluntarily recalling the affected sedans to replace the accelerator pedal assembly and reprogram the engine control module. "On some vehicles, an accelerator pedal sensor may cause the vehicle to go into a fail-safe (limp home) mode when the pedal is pushed to the right while being depressed. In rare instances, this may cause the engine to stop running while idling or coming to a stop. In these instances, the vehicle can restart," Infiniti spokesman Kyle Bazemore said in a statement.
The Fix: Infiniti will begin notifying owners in November, and dealers will replace the accelerator pedal and reprogram the ECM for free. "Infiniti prides itself in providing a high standard of customer satisfaction, and we regret any inconvenience this may cause our owners," Bazemore said.
