Take Heed, Odoriferous Affluent: Bentley to Launch Luxury Fragrance Collection

You've made all the right choices on your way to the top. And now that you've got the car, the arm candy, and the ornamental polo mallet, but one question remains: "How should I smell?" Sensing your quandary, Bentley went directly to the epicenter for all things tiny, smelly, and expensive: France. To create its namesake fragrance, Bentley enlisted the help of renowned French crystal maker Lalique and A-list perfumer Mylène Alran from the French perfume house of Robertet to come up with a distinct scent bottled in decorative decanter worthy of the marque. The Lalique for Bentley Crystal edition, sits atop the pile of tiny, decorative gift boxes, retailing for €3500 (that's about $4700 at current exchange rates) for a scant 40 ml of Eau de Parfum. Bottled in a crystal flacon with the legendary Flying B, the scent is said to be a "fitting elixir of fine woody notes and exquisite leather" to compliment Bentley's craftsmanship mixed with "precious orris butter accord to create a sensual and charismatic character." Most Bentleys, after all, are filled with a more-than-considerable amount of wood and leather, so we're inclined to believe the brand's wordsmiths. The Lalique for Bentley Crystal edition is limited to only 999 pieces, and will be available at a number of carefully selected retailers starting in April. For those still on their way to the top, Bentley offers a more reasonably priced option with Bentley for Men and Bentley for Men Intense product lines. This pair was created by top French perfumer Nathalie Lorson from the perfume house Firmenich. Lorson claims to have "transformed the quintessence of the luxury automotive brand Bentley into a superb and unmistakable fragrance experience," by including "must haves" for Bentley's debut fragrance, fine wood and leather notes—not to be confused with the wood, leather, and orris butter tones in the $4700 Bentley Crystal. The Intense variety takes these notes to another level by infusing the rich scent with aromatic African geranium. The Bentley for Men line also will feature its own distinct packaging, the decanters featuring the Bentley logo and a knurled radiator-like cap covering the atomizer. Pricing is set at €59 ($79) for 60 ml, €79 ($105) for 100 ml, and €87 ($116) for the Intense variant. Both will be available at selected perfumeries and department stores from April.
