LeMons Good/Bad Idea of the Week: Bavarian Brougham


When you've been around 24 Hours of LeMons racing for a while, you get a sense of the love/hate relationship that LeMons racers have with BMWs. That is, many LeMons racers love to race BMWs, and the other racers want the LeMons Supreme Court to hammer every 3-series and 5-series with hundreds of penalty laps. BMWs don't actually dominate the race— for every E30 that finishes in the top ten, there are a dozen more that get owned by Ford Festivas and Toyota Paseos— but the sheer quantity of Bavarian machines means that plenty of them are very quick. This means that a contending team that wants to run a new-ish 3- or 5-series had better come up with some original theme ideas for their car if they want to emerge from the BS Inspection process with zero penalty laps.
