2013 Chevrolet Spark EPA Ratings Released; Tops Out at 38 mpg Highway

The EPA has revealed fuel-economy data for the 2013 Chevrolet Spark, and the tiniest car to wear a bow-tie badge in the U.S. just misses the critical—to the marketing folks, at least—40-mpg mark.  The subcompact, sub-Sonic-sized Spark hatchback has been sold in global markets for a few years now, where it is available with either a 67-hp, 1.0-liter four or an 83-hp, 1.2-liter four. We're getting the 83-hp version here, which one might think could easily achieve impressive fuel-economy numbers. Instead, the five-speed manual version is rated for 32 mpg in the city and 38 on the highway; Sparks with the optional four-speed automatic are good for an estimated 28/37. Read full story »
