Lotus Evora GTE China Limited Edition Debuts, Is Delightfully Free of Gratuitous Dragon Imagery [Beijing Auto Show]

When Lotus unveiled the Evora GTE Road Car concept at last year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the company made no secret of its intentions to build and sell approximately 25 examples for the Chinese market. Initial interest was encouraging enough, but when the Lotus Evora GTE was shown again a month later at the Frankfurt motor show, the Chinese market reportedly "went crazy" for the car. Encouraged by the hysteria, Lotus created this Evora GTE China Limited Edition, which made its world debut at the Beijing auto show.

Lotus Evora GTE China Edition

According to Lotus, its chassis engineers have adapted the GTE to suit Chinese roads. The interior is lined with more leather and carbon fiber for a more luxurious feel. Its 3.5-liter supercharged V-6 engine produces the same 444 horses as the one in the carbon-fiber-drenched Lotus F1 Team Evora GTE "company car" that Kimi Räikkönen introduced in Geneva.

Only 118 examples of the China Limited Edition will be produced, guaranteeing its exclusivity. Each car features a numbered plaque inside labeled with a China Limited Edition insignia.
