Bugatti Displays Veyron Grand Sport Wei Long 2012 One-Off in Beijing

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Wei Long

Not content to let fellow premium manufacturers Ferrari and Rolls-Royce grab all the Year of the Dragon headlines coming out of the Beijing auto show, Bugatti has unveiled its own vehicular interpretation of the theme. Based on the Veyron Grand Sport, Bugatti's Wei Long 2012 one-off model was developed in conjunction with revered German porcelain maker Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin. The first time these two tangoed, the resultant product was the equally, er, understated and practical Veyron Grand Sport L'Or Blanc.

Numerous porcelain dragon sculptures dot the polished white exterior that Bugatti claims endows the Wei Long 2012 with "deep Chinese cultural heritage." Because really, when it comes to respectfully paying tribute to thousands of years of deeply shrouded Chinese calendar mythology, who better for the task than the Germans? Aside from the dragon sculptures that decorate the oil and fuel caps, Bugatti makes no mention of upgrades to the engine or other performance enhancing tweaks. Take a seat in the Wei Long 2012's carmine-red leather interior and rest your feet on the handcrafted 100-percent silk floor mats embossed with the Chinese character for dragon, which also is embroidered in the headrests. Bugatti considers the white porcelain dragon sculpture that rests between the seats the highlight of the interior embellishments.

There's Only One, and It's for Sale!

According to Bugatti, these unique and artistic Chinese features combined with the breathtaking speed of the Bugatti Grand Sport make the Wei Long 2012 the dragon of the automotive industry. The privilege of owning this one-off model will set you back $2,074,382.
