-What It Is: After a decade, General Motors finally will release a second generation of its mid-size crossover family, which includes the GMC Acadia/Chevrolet Traverse/Buick Enclave. Spotted here in GMC trim, the next Acadia carries over its familiar fender-flare shape, upright grille, and rectilinear body that contains three rows of seats. Design-wise, don't expect any heart-pounding surprises once the camouflage peels off. Inside is where the party's at, with a taller center console, a compressed center stack, and sculpted dash paneling like that on the larger Yukon. GMC's IntelliLink touch screen will play a more crucial role in controlling radio, navigation, and other functions. Above the HVAC controls, many of the hard buttons of the current system are gone.
