Nissan is expanding a recall to include 41,388 more cars with faulty gas-tank seals, according to filings posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
--
In total, there are 46,846 cars affected—the list includes 2013–2016 Altima 3.5 models and the 2016 Maxima—since Nissan announced the first recall in August. Only V-6 models are included. The H-seal between the fuel tank and sending unit may be incorrectly seated, which can cause a fuel leak during a crash, Nissan said. Dealers have already begun installing a retainer ring to "prevent potential H-seal movement" during a crash.
