What Jeep's Future Looks Like

IMG_0208

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is having its Investor Day gathering, where the automaker actually divulges future product plans, at the company's North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. Past events have proven to be extremely accurate. The first brand touched on this morning was Jeep. While there are no pictures of what Chrysler intends to do with new models (it's much too early for that), officials told us what to expect from the iconic sport utility brand.

Jeep will expand globally from producing five nameplates in just North America to making six nameplates in six countries around the world. It's going to be FCA's global expansion brand, and here's how the company plans to boost sales to nearly 1.9 million units globally by 2018:

  • A refreshed Grand Cherokee arrives late 2015.
  • A single model, arriving spring 2016, will replace the Patriot and Compass compact SUVs.
  • A refresh of the Cherokee midsize SUV is scheduled for summer 2016.
  • An all-new Wrangler arrives in spring 2017.
  • A makeover of the just-introduced Renegade subcompact SUV and an all-new Grand Cherokee both arrive in summer 2017.
  • A new three-row Grand Wagoneer arrives, slotted above the Grand Cherokee, but not until summer 2018.
