This 2014 Huracán LP610-4 goes into service later this year to replace the two Gallardo squad cars driven by officers in Rome and Bologna, both of which have served since 2008, including surviving a dramatic crash with a SEAT Ibiza in 2009. According to Lamborghini, one of the Gallardos racked up more than 87,000 miles with no major repairs. Before that, another two Gallardos were on duty since 2004 and 2005. It joins Dubai's Aventador LP700-4 in active service, the first of about a dozen supercars the Middle Eastern city purchased with its own money last year.
The Huracán police car incorporates a gun holster, radar and radio equipment, and a video-recording system, as well as a sealed refrigerated compartment under the hood for transporting organs. A defibrillator is at the ready, should the car's 602-hp V-10 not generate enough rumble to suffice. A removable screen can be used to show motorists how they broke the law, complete with a data overlay.

Irony also comes standard. In Italy, police have continued to target luxury-car drivers for suspected tax evasion, and they're particularly fond of pulling over Lamborghinis and Ferraris in wealthy areas. Stepping out of a $250,000 Huracán, Italian cops should at least consider accepting the "it's not mine" excuse, no?
