While we already have a pile of intel on the Mazda Miata–based Fiat/Abarth sports car—it won't be an Alfa—another piece of the puzzle was revealed today at Fiat-Chrysler's product-news jamboree and pancake breakfast: launch timing.
The sports car, which will share a chassis but not powertrains with the next Miata and be built in Hiroshima, Japan, will reach dealerships in late 2015. How do we know? In one of the Fiat brand presentation slides, a model listed as "specialty" appears; given that we know the new roadster exists and nothing else that could be the car appears in either the Alfa materials or elsewhere in the Fiat stuff, this is it. Plus "specialty" and "spider" both start with "sp," so there's that.
