Hyundai Drops the Veloster RE:MIX Production Model—Glow Sticks Not Included [2012 SEMA Show]

Hyundai Veloster Re:Mix edition

Hyundai's RE:MIX Lab is a national tour celebrating creativity in music, art, fashion, technology, gaming, culture, and design. Hyundai's Veloster is a car. Put them together and you get the Hyundai Veloster RE:MIX, a production vehicle featuring a blend of exclusive features and options squarely aimed at a young, tech-savvy, creative demographic. And those who've always wanted the perfect mobile-rave vehicle.

Key exterior features of the Veloster RE:MIX include projector headlamps with LED accents, fog lamps, a chrome-accented grille, LED taillamps, and the requisite body kit. Eighteen-inch dark-finished aluminum wheels can be shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires as an option. In addition to the exclusive Sprint Gray exterior finish, a simplified color palate of five additional Veloster colors will be available: Century White, 26.2 Yellow, Marathon Blue, Ultra Black, and Boston Red. A RE:MIX-exclusive Disco graphics package featuring retro, eight-bit squares arranged in a pattern resembling an equalizer on the hoods and sides also is optional.

The nerve center of the RE:MIX is comprised of a high-resolution seven-inch touch screen and an eight-speaker, 450-watt Dimension premium audio system with an eight-inch subwoofer to keep the techno-trance dubstep party rolling. iDevice, USB, and auxiliary input jacks allow the RE:MIX's occupants get their Frankie Bones on whether they use iPhones, Android, or Discmen. RE:MIX-specific floor mats and an LED light kit serve as constant reminders that there is a party going on in the back seat. Motivation comes from the same 138-hp, 1.6-liter four-cylinder that powers the less-enlightened Veloster.

The first of the RE:MIX Velosters will hit showroom floors before the end of the year. Pricing for the RE:MIX starts at $20,675 for models equipped a six-speed manual; those too busy beating that beat to be bothered by such a mundane task as shifting for themselves will need to pony up $21,925 for a six-speed dual-clutch automatic–equipped Veloster RE:MIX. Glow sticks not included.
