Acura ILX “Street Build” Project Straps On Blower, Body Kit [2012 SEMA Show]

2013 Acura ILX Street Build

Acura celebrated its return to the SEMA show—it took six years off to focus on stuff like the recently discontinued ZDX—by debuting a couple of ILX projects. One is a race car scheduled to compete at Thunderhill in a few weeks and the other is this supercharged roadgoing model.

Based on the ILX 2.4 with its standard six-speed manual, the Street Build car uses the blower and a Hondata ECU reflash to up power to 250 horses at the wheels. (The stock engine is rated for 210.) A GReddy exhaust is fitted, as are adjustable Tein coilover shocks, StopTech brakes, and 19-inch Volk wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires. A short-throw shifter kit shortens the shift throws; tongue-twister aside, we're already pretty happy with the stock unit as found in our long-term ILX 2.4.

An Acura accessory body kit—front and rear fascias, side skirts—adds some sizzle to the ILX's mundane styling, but we're most interested in the supercharged engine; drop it in the lightened ILX Endurance Racer also shown at SEMA and we're all in.
