U.S.-spec Porsche Cayenne Diesel to Debut in April [New York Auto Show]

Porsche has confirmed that it will show a "new Cayenne model for the North American market" at the upcoming New York auto show, and the only possibility is the Cayenne diesel. We rule out others not because it is the final piece to the Cayenne puzzle—we certainly expect to see more derivatives, including a new GTS—but because the company announced earlier this year that its diesel SUV would arrive here in 2012. It's already on sale across the Atlantic.

The Cayenne diesel engine is a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 producing 406 lb-ft of torque; it's also installed in the VW Touareg and Audi Q7 TDIs. The horsepower figure is unknown, but should be either 240 (the same as the Euro Cayenne diesel) or 225 (the VW and Audi rating). We expect the Cayenne diesel to be priced below the $69,975 Cayenne S hybrid.
