Mercedes-Benz “Baby CLS” Sedan to Debut as Concept at L.A. MOCA Event

2013 Mercedes-Benz A-class (spy photo)

More news from Mercedes-Benz: The compact, front-wheel-drive sedan touted as a "baby CLS" by the manufacturer—spy photos and more information here—likely will make its debut in concept form at the "Transmission LA: AV CLUB Curated by Mike D" event at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles on April 20. (Yes, that's Mike D, a.k.a. Mike Diamond, of Beastie Boys fame.) The concept, which may be called CLC in production form, conceivably could also be shown at the Beijing auto show on April 23. While no official confirmation was forthcoming from Merc, we did receive strong hints pointing to the L.A. launch.

The vehicle will be a four-door sedan which shares a front-wheel-drive platform with the new A- and B-classes, as well as an upcoming crossover model. It will compete with the new Audi A3 sedan and—possibly—a similarly swoopy, Jetta-sized sedan from Volkswagen.
