Name That Shifter, No. 179: 2014 Mini Cooper

On Monday, we presented this week's shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle whence it came. We thought we'd take a break from showcasing old shifters and throw in something new, but that didn't really work. Commenter HotChiliR56S correctly identified the six-speed as belonging to a 2014 Mini Cooper, and will receive a Save the Manuals button and magnet as a reward.

The Mini pictured here is identical to one of the cars we drove this past February. With a longer wheelbase, greater overall length, and a bit more width, the new Mini is no longer all that mini. The third-generation BMW-designed Mini gets new turbocharged three- and four-cylinder engines, and while it feels slightly more grown up, it's still a ball to drive.
