Wired Up: FCA Recalls 410,000 Vehicles to Fix Faulty Wiring Harnesses

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is voluntarily recalling a total of 409,866 vehicles sold worldwide due to a wiring harness issue that can lead to stalling in some 2015 Chrysler 200 sedans, 2015 Ram ProMaster City vans, 2015 Jeep Renegade subcompact SUVs, and 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee compact SUVs.

The issue is limited to vehicles built before September 23, 2014, and stems from a poorly crimped wiring harness, which can result in a solenoid fault code. In a written statement, FCA noted that it was unaware of any injuries or fatalities related to the issue; however, it added that the issue can be temporarily resolved by coming to a stop and restarting the engine, should a stall occur.

In order to solve the problem, FCA stated that it will update the software and replace the wiring harnesses of affected vehicles as needed. Of the nearly 410,000 vehicles being recalled, 323,361 were sold in the United States.
