Just last week we heard reports that the much-anticipated compact sports car by Toyota and Subaru had been put on hold. Well, according to Japanese PR that spoke with Inside Line, the rear-wheel-drive sports car is “still very much on track” for 2011.

The car, which is widely known as the ”Toyobaru,” was reported to have been delayed to 2012 due to the global economic slowdown. According to representatives from Toyota and Subaru, the car is still on schedule.

The representatives said that the two companies have changed the production site for the rear-wheel-drive sports car. Originally, Toyota and Subaru planned to build a new factory in Oizumi to build the Toyobaru. The car will now be built at Subaru’s Gunma plant.
