The Ford iosis Max concept unveiled last week at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, hints at a future multipurpose vehicle for North America while providing a hint at Ford’s new global design language. According to Automotive News, the concept could very well be the basis for the next-generation Ford C-Max.
Of course, the Ford C-Max isn’t sold in the U.S. but according to the iosis Max project head Patrick Verhee, the production version of the concept could be practical for the U.S.
The Ford iosis Max Concept is powered by a 1.6L 4-cylinder EcoBoost that produces 180-hp and returns a fuel-economy that is 20 percent better than a conventional gasoline engine. It is also equipped with a line of Ford’s fuel-saving technologies including a PowerShift transmission and the new Auto-Start-Stop system that is scheduled to debut in 2010.
