Kansas City Royals fans still geeked about their team's World Series win last fall have a new way to show their pride: the Ford F-150 MVP Edition pickup.
--Ford, which builds F-150s in nearby Claycomo, Missouri, says it got the idea to climb onto the Royals bandwagon from a fan—which might explain why it took almost until opening day for the truck to arrive. In any event, the MVP Edition is here now, and it's an XLT SuperCrew that comes with the exterior chrome package, a spray-in bedliner, polished stainless-steel rocker-panel trim, and MVP badging—but sadly not a glove box stuffed with KC barbecue. The exterior colors are white or Royals blue (actually Blue Flame), and the trucks can be configured with any of the F-150's powertrains and many of its additional options. That complicates the issue of pricing, but an F-150 XLT SuperCrew with the chrome package and the bedliner starts at $40,315, so figure on spending more than that for this MVP.

Ford is building 300 MVP Editions, which are being sold by KC-area dealers. That's all well and good, but we wouldn't want to think Ford is biased in favor of the Royals. After all, the F-150 is also built in Dearborn, Michigan, so when the Detroit Tigers win the 2016 World Series, we'll expect another MVP Edition F-150 to follow, in Tigers' blue and orange.
