Today, internet, you can haz cheezburger, because Volkswagen has drummed up one of the weirdest, cattiest ads we've ever seen. And for Germany, no less. Setting aside the idea that Germans are, on the stereotyped surface of things, the least funny people on earth, the commercial is mesmerizingly zany, with humans acting out internet-famous cat videos while a bizarre, hypothalamus-splittingly irritating song jangles in the background. So what do humans playing felines and that infernal song have to do with Volkswagens?

Good question. Technically, the ad—apparently commissioned by Volkswagen Germany—attempts to shill VW's leasing program to (human) consumers. Perhaps the best part of the clip, however, is that the VW connection isn't clear until the very end of the video. That's when a talking real-yet-fake cat slides a Golf out of a parking garage (BUT HOW DO HIS LITTLE PAWS REACH THE PEDALS AND STEER?) and reminds viewers that "you don't need to be a cat to get onto the internet" before explaining that those who want to drive a Volkswagen "don't need to buy one." Leasing, in a nutshell. And modern, um, advertising encapsulated in one minute:
