Which 2013 Car Is Similar to My 1991 Acura Integra?

Which 2013 car is similar to my 1991 Acura Integra?

The 1991 Integra was much skimpier with features compared to today's cars, making direct comparisons difficult. Air bags weren't required then, so it came with motorized front shoulder belts that were activated when the doors were closed. Antilock brakes were standard only on top-line GS models, air conditioning was a dealer-installed accessory for all models, and some versions didn't have power locks or windows. Even so, the Integra was considered a well-equipped, somewhat upscale car 22 years ago.

The 1991 Integra came as a two-door hatchback that was 173 inches long and as a four-door sedan that was a few inches longer, and base prices ran from about $12,000 to $18,000.

That size and price range in today's market puts you in a subcompact car, such as the Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio or Ford Fiesta. Moving up a notch in size and price to the compact class adds cars such as the Mazda3, Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and Honda Civic to the mix. The closest model to an Integra in the current Acura line is the ILX, a Civic-based sedan that starts at $27,795 with destination charge.

Here are some suggestions to get you started. First, check out Cars.com's Best bets for 2013, here, which lets you sort vehicles by size, price, gas mileage and other factors. That should help you find some qualified candidates for your driveway.

From there, you can further hone your shopping list with the Cars.com Vehicle Recommender, here, which lets you fine-tune your search by price, mileage and by identifying must-have features, engine type and other specifics you would like on your next car.

With whatever you decide to buy, you will get significantly more standard safety features and probably higher fuel economy. However, we can't promise that your next car will last as long as that 1991 Integra.
