Toyota Working on PlayStation Track Day Feature

Scion FR-S

Toyota is developing a new feature for the Scion FR-S—or the Toyota GT 86 as it's known overseas—that will allow drivers to upload track-day information to their PlayStations. Although information on how the system will work is limited, we expect it to use speed sensors and GPS mapping to log data acquired at the track. No word on how this data logger will interface with PlayStation consoles, but the aim is to make acquired telemetry more graphic and sharable.

At this stage of development, Toyota is gauging interest in its new feature. No decision has been made yet about any GT 86s being equipped with this technology. Even if Toyota HQ determines it wants to go forward with this system in Japan or elsewhere, there's still no guarantee it'll make it to the U.S.-spec FR-S.
